The day and hour have come

Well, the day has arrived. The tickets were purchased half a year ago and the visas were stamped a month ago.  All the questions about 'how many more months, weeks and days till we go to India?' have all boiled down to 9:45pm tonight. About 95 minutes hence.

It has been a hectic lead up to the adventure.  Last week the Catos hosted an amazing and typically opulent soiree at their Collingwood Cubby House to mark the end of the Spring Racing Festival.  The ladies clearly outclassed the men by several milliner's meters.  Gorgeous, svelte, buxom and all painted up! Us men, well, we tried our best with funny hats, pot bellies, and even Admiral Nelson.

Yvonne, tied for first place!

Judges studying the talent with utmost seriousness. Boy this is tiring.

The fillies are the winners, even the ones who didn't get a prize!

This week was spent as follows:  kids in school, Yvonne is a tissie rushing from shop to shop frantically shoring up the clothing, shoe and bag supply in preparation for getting on the plane, Nate hanging out with music industry big wigs and in particular the Bachu Khan Group, a troupe of traditional Rajasthani gypsy musicians in town for the Australasian World Music Expo.

The Sunday night concert (opening for Israeli singer, Yasmin Levy) was one of the highlights of the Festival and I'm sure the boys will be back in Melbourne again next year for more shows at more festivals.

And so, with tired features and excitable children the Rabes are OFF to India.  We wait for the Catos to join us on Thursday morning for a spot of tea and toast in the gardens of Lutyens Bungalow, New Delhi!

Until then...Jai Hind!
