Better: than the night before and Dad's pizza

The restfulness of beachside Goa, so fragile in any case, due to the hotel being a finalist to host India's Newlywed Game, was shattered unequivocally by Nate disrupting the proceedings by a night of watery     diarrhoea. The less said about this episode the better.  Moving on...

After a morning swim the Rabes booked a local taxi for the 3 minute drive to the Park Hyatt Hotel. Da Luigi, an Italian restaurant was our destination and clean food and non-spicy flavours our mission. We found both at the posh resort. Pizzas and pasta that tasted the kids announced that 'Tasted better than Dad's.'  (We'll see about that Mose and Esther!)

More swimming poolside for the kids in the afternoon. Dad and Yvonne sat it out.    The next day, we determined, we had to get out of the hotel and see some of Goa,  sphincters permitting of course.

And so, after breakfast and NO swim we headed off by road towards Panaji (Panjim) the capitol of Goa, 30 klicks up the road. We travelled a lovely road shaded by coconut palms and tranquil rice paddies. Nate and Yvonne were transported back to Nepal and Sri Lanka where similar scenes had been experienced.  Esther simply wanted to know why people were stomping around in the mud when it was so yucky.

In Panjim we were dropped at an imposing edifice of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church from whence we wandered off into the markets and back streets looking for a money changer. Vasco Da Gama came to India (Goa) looking for "Christians and spices". The Rabe's came looking for  "Money changers and toilets".  We eventually were satisfied on both accounts and then proceeded to enjoy a leisurely stroll through Panjim.
Yvonne and Esther dominated the shopping stalls with several inexpensive (not to say cheap) purchases for the wrist and hair. Mose tried to make his upper lip stiff in response to his lack of purchasing.

Panjim is a clean and pretty town with that very Iberian feel. We ended up at the Jain Children's garden on the waterfront but didn't stay as it was time for lunch. On the way back to the taxi we found the best peda of the trip and Yvonne and Nate consumed 250 grms of same.

Doing a deal with a taxi man we took luncheon once more at the Park Hyatt (Lasanga, bolognese, prawn spaghetti) and returned to Royal Orchid for an afternoon swim.  The day ended with a walk on the beach and watching the sun set over the Arabian Sea.  Nice!
